A new 50ha native woodland has been created in the heart of the Nidderdale area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ (AONB) in Yorkshire.
The Summerstone Estate is situated within 1,400 acres of the Nidderdale Valley in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire, and is one of 46 AONBs in the UK.
The estates owners approached Tilhill Forestry, a UK forestry management and timber harvesting company, to plant in excess of 65,000 trees and shrubs on the estate.
Tilhill Forestry said it has a “long-standing relationship” with landscape supplier Green-tech, and turned to them to supply in excess of 65,000 Tubex 1.2m tree shelters, Tubex 60cm Shrub shelters and stakes.
The owners said they are are advocates of “sustainable land management” and had a desire to create a “green framework to enhance their local landscape, biodiversity and sporting interest”.
Simon Marrington, Tilhill Forestry’s new business and senior forest manager, said: “As usual Green-tech were great. They supplied everything as specified, on time and to the correct location at the agreed rates. Everything was just to the high standard we expect and our customer is very happy.”
