The Lancrigg Hotel in Grasmere has reopened after completing a major refurbishment project.
The owner, Simon Wright, has had a long history in the hospitality industry and has also been trained as a landscape architect. He did all the design work himself and said that he had the tools to modernise the “quirky” hotel and start 2018 on a positive note.
The hotel has upgraded all of its bedrooms, which have been updated with gas central heating and a new commercial hot water system. The public areas inside the property feature faux ivy in the hallway, creating an ‘outdoorsy’ look.
The parking area outside the hotel has also been improved, making it easier for guests to access. Wright said his experience with landscape has helped innovatively change the entrance, creating a more welcoming approach.
The Restaurant with Rooms has 10 guest rooms in total, including two family suites and one accessible room.
Wright, owner, said: “To see Lancrigg refreshed under this current renovation is so fulfilling. So much effort has been put in by our team and we are all delighted with the result.
“Our goal was to retain the character and quirks of the place whilst bringing it into the future which I think we have achieved. It is great to see Lancrigg blossoming again and the potential of the place start to emerge.”
